Horseback Riding at Klipfontein – Adventure on the Edge of the Kalahari
Welcome to Klipfontein, our 700-hectare farm on the edge of the Kalahari! Here, where semi-desert meets wide savannah and bushveld, nature invites you to discover its beauty on horseback. The reddish soil, endless skies, and open plains create the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable riding experience. From English Thoroughbreds to hardy Nooitgedacht-Arabian crosses, each horse has its own character and spirit.
Our horse family is at the heart of Klipfontein :
- Ellie – mare, English Thoroughbred
- Sky – gelding, Nooitgedacht × Arabian
- JP – gelding, English Thoroughbred
- Cola – gelding, Arabian × Nooitgedacht
- Miki – gelding, English Thoroughbred
- Rusty – gelding, Anglo-Arabian
- Lumi – gelding, Appaloosa
- Pippie Langkous – mare, Miniature × Arabian
All of them are under saddle and love to take our guests on rides across the farm – even little Pippie Langkous, is under the saddle and sometimes kids ride her just for fun, but she is more of a cuddle pony. Only Lumi, our striking Appaloosa, is still in training.
At Klipfontein, we use our horses exclusively for relaxed and scenic rides across the farm’s vast landscapes. Some of our guests come to us for a pure riding holiday, while others combine their stay with a safari adventure. Spend a few days exploring the farm on horseback and then set off on tour to the famous Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park or the wildlife-rich Pilanesberg National Park.
Whether you dream of a full horseback holiday or the perfect combination of riding and safari – Klipfontein offers you the best of both worlds.
